Follow these basic instructions to prepare and secure your boat for overland transportation.
GENERAL INFO
The legal height for transporting boats over the road is 13'6". Please select a marina or boat storage with a minimal 14' of overhead headway and make sure there are no low-hanging tree branches or wires.
FUNDAMENTALS
Stow all loose gear and properly secure. The boat carrier will not be responsible for damages caused by unpacked gear. Lock up the cabin. Boats can't be transported with full fuel or water tanks. Fuel and water must be drained to at least ¼ of the tanks. Take out any drain plugs from the hull. There shouldn't be any water in the bilge while it is being carried on the road. During wintertime water should be drained from water systems, pumps, air conditioners, etc. Disconnect batteries. Remove anchors from the deck.
COVERS & SHRINK WRAP
All canvas covers must be removed as they may tear or fly off during the transit. You can also ship a shrink-wrapped boat, however the it may also tear off and fly away.
CRADLES & TRAILERS
If your boat sits on a cradle, please look it over it carefully for loose bolts or any form of weakness. If your cradle collapses in transportation resulting in damage to your boat, the transporter can't assume responsibility. If you are sending your boat on its own trailer, the carrier won't be responsible if the trailer breaks down or the rollers or frame lead to damage.
OUTSIDE EQUIPMENT
All electronics, radar, horns, antennas, flag masts, lights, etc. must be removed, packaged and firmly stacked away below.
